First Widdowson Medical Mayhem!

Well, it took 5 years, but we have officially had our first bloody scare! The story goes a lil' sumpin' like 'dis.
Sheri came to pick up Tyler, Mia's little friend. Tyler was walking out to get in his mom's car and Mia comes out to say farewell. Typical stuff so far. Mia is carrying a glass bowl full of Corn Pops. She proceeds to break into a trot to catch up to Tyler, and for those of you who know Mia this will come as a great shock...she tripped over the mid-air and went crashing to the concrete. Pretty typical stuff around the Widdowson household. I uttered my usual line of, "Oh I am sorry honey, shake it off. Your a tough girl." But this time was different. By the time she turned to face me I knew it wasn't a normal Mia crash. She was gushing blood and screaming her little heart out.

To say the shattered bowl cut her finger sounds too tame for the scope of her injury. I dared to take a look and immediately wished I hadn't. The cut look jagged and deep. I saw parts of her finger that a mother should never have to see. Looking back on the chaos, I am thrilled that I didn't freak out. It was pretty scary lookin'!

Sheri took our other two babies while Jon and I took Mia to see our pediatrician. He had her fixed up in a Jiffy! Now for a bit of Mommy bragging rights! Mia was so brave! She saw the tools that the doctor unsheathed and the "numbing needle" and let out little more than a whimper. She put the ipod on and tuned into her favorite song...which happens to be Bubbly by Cobbie Calliat...and gritted her teeth 'til it was over. What a moment for me and her Papa Bear.

Sunday is a Treat!

I love Sundays for lots of reasons, but one of the biggies is that I get to see my Beetlers (aka Mia) in a dress. Around the age of two Mia decided that Camo pants and skateboard shirts were her thing! She doesn't only dress like a boy but she plays like a boy. It might have something to do with the fact that her favorite cousin in the world is an eight year old boy or it could be the eight boys she plays with everyday on our street. She really would be ok if I never asked her to put on a dress or encouraged her to let me do her hair.

Needless to say Sunday is a treat. She always looks like the pretty little girl I remember as a two year old. Having said that I should also say that I have actually learned to appreciate and respect the fact that she is chiseling out her own little identity. She is a good girl with a very strong will and I love her for it.

Ra Ra Sis Boom Ba!!!

Mikey is playing JV Lacrosse this year for the Copper Hills Grizzlies! I am going to take a moment as his Auntie to brag about him. Uhhem..So this is first year EVER playing Lacrosse and he is a starter and a team captain! Mikey enjoys learning a new sport and is picking it up really fast. I am so proud of him. He has been through a lot for being such a young teenager and he is handling all of his trials with a great amount of maturity! I am so glad he is staying involved at school. It is really fun to be apart of his life. Love you Mikey!

Welcome to the World Lil' Isaac!

On March 18th our little nephew Isaac was born. Terra and David welcomed their baby boy via a surprise C-section! It must have been a little scary for the parents to be. But after enduring their first little hiccup they are off and running with their new little addition!

I can't wait to meet this beautiful little boy in person. I am devising a plan to jet off to Washington as I sit here and type.
We love you Terra and David!
