Hobble Creek here I come!

So I have waited until now to announce my decision to run the Hobble Creek 1/2 Marathon. I wanted to make it through a few weeks of training to make sure I was going to do it before I started telling friends. Well, I am officially through 4 weeks of training and half way through my 5th week.

I am not sure what made think that running 13 miles was a good idea, but despite my skepticism I am actually really enjoying myself.

Myself. That is who I am running with.

"Myself" is not my typical Modus Operandi. I always have to do things with people in order to stay motivated, and of course PEOPLE are the biggest part of my FUN equation. Interestingly enough I am loving my quiet, alone time. I am the star of my own Nike commercial, just me and the road. It has been great. But my guess is at some point I am going to need a partner to get thru the longer runs. Hint, Hint Jules!

Things I hope to get from participating in this race:
Prove to myself that I am not old despite what my Birthdate says.
To be a healthier version of myself.
To see if I am interested in trying a full Marathon.
Prove to myself that I can do something for fun and not get mental about it! I tend to start worrying about how fast I can run :)

So if you guys see me running along side of the road and my tongue is hanging out and my face is the color of the sunset, just honk your support and keep your comments to yourself! :)

Hey - I haven't signed up yet, but I am seriously considering doing this race. I have never done a race, either. Scares me to death...Are there still openings? We may need to take up running instead of driving to get around :) xoxo

giggle, giggle...I LOVE the pictures you took of you and your shoes! You are too cute Mindy and I am so proud of you for trying something outside of your comfort zone. I'm a yellow too, I know how hard it can be to stay motivated on something big like this so bravo!

Mind-
Any mother with 3 kids under the age of five, who has the energy and mental focus needed to run a half marathon is definitely NOT old! I think the definition is more like "SUPERMOM". I know you very well, and you will do awesome. I also know you well enough to know that the whole "myself" thing is just a sham:) The second you see those shoes ahead of you, I think the "other" Mindy will arrive on scene. You know the one. The one who screams at Jon while playing volley ball: "What- are your feet glued to the floor!!" So your a little...um...competitive. There's nothing wrong with that:) That's part of the Mindy we all know and love. So how bout for the first half of the race it's all about you against yourself...but after that it's "MOVE IT,OR LOSE IT SISTER!"

LOve JEn.

You will do great! I ran one in April and said I would never do it again but here I am doing one in October!! I am nuts. After you do it you get the bug! Weird, huh?
It is a lot of physical hard work but I think the race is so mental too! YOu just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other!
Good luck I know you will do awesome!!

Amen Sisters, Mindy I am sooo psyched for you!!! I loved my 1/2 marathon!! It really doesn't matter who you train with, running is 20% physical and 80% mental. Just when you think you can't go any further, your body takes over and you JUST DO IT! Keep me posted.
love ya Terra

Jen's right...... I'd have to hide from you during a race! I'd try and pass you all stealthy like or else you'd rocket past me just because you HAD to!
So when's Hobble Creek?? Bring it.

It's amazing what anyone can do if they put there mind to it. I am going to attempt to walk 60 miles in 3 days for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I can already see myself with my tongue hanging and it is not until November. Good Luck!
