Two Wheelin'

Ok, so Mia is FIVE and she has been riding just about everything with wheels since she was very small. The one thing she hasn't been able to ride, or maybe I should say, refused to ride is a bike. Every time we encouraged her to ride it [with training wheels] she cried hysterically. Obviously, something about that little bike freaked her out so we backed off.

Well, here we are a month into a new summer and it was starting to bug me that my five year could not ride a bike so I did what every good Mom would do...I tried to SHAME her into riding her bike. I told her that she will be the only five year old on the street who can't ride a two wheeler. It seemed to have little or no effect. And then one day I looked out the window to see her on her little two wheeler cruising down the street! It was a very exciting thing to see. I ran outside and asked who taught her to ride a bike and she looked at me with her most superior look and said, "Who do you think, Me!"

And the rest is history.

Yea! That is huge thing for a 5 year old. She is really cute.
I work at a restaurant called Sudwerk Riverside waiting tables. Just 3-4 nights a week till we are debt free! It isn't too bad, just lots of juggling!

YAY Mia! That is awesome she taught herself! That little girl is talented! Thanks for coming to the park... it's always nice to escape the house once in awhile! And a HUGE thanks for taking Ava... really what would I have done... burped Adrie, pushed the cart, and chased Ava. Maybe I will do it next time and you can follow me with a video camera! I will get the hang of it sooner or later!! Oh, and I am gameto share Adrie... You take Sunday's though... I hate feeding at church!

Crazy! We just came in from 'teaching' Liv to ride her bike. She's still got some work to do...... I can't believe Mia taught herself!
That's okay, I'm not jealous, Fran potty-trained herself last weekend.

That is such a "MIA" thing to do. I don't think there is anything she can't do if she puts her mind to it. Please tell her that auntie Jen is soooo proud of her. That girl is definitely going places some day....but I have a feeling she might be taking her parents for quite a ride along the way! :)

Woohoo Mia! That's so great that she taught herself! Now we just need her to teach Dylan! He still is scared to death to ride a two-wheeler, and he's almost 7. I just don't know what to do! I've tried to shame him too, saying he's the only 7 year old around that can't ride a two-wheeler. Hopefully he'll be like Mia and just jump on his bike...soon! P.S. Mindy, I'm going to update as soon as Tyler leaves the camera so I can upload some pictures! I've been slacking!

You'll have to teach me the ways of motherhood when it's my turn to teach my child to ride a bike! I didn't know shaming worked but I'll try anything once! ;) Mia is amazing and I can't wait to watch her grow up into an even more independant little girl!

Thats amazing that she did that. We've been wanting to teach Halli, but she just won't have it. I tried shaming too, didn't work for me. She said when she turns 5, which is only 2 months, then she'll do it, we'll see. Congrats though, thats huge for Mia!

How cute! I can't believe how big she is. Time goes by so fast. Sorry about Kadyn loving to sit on your porch. We loves to just sit there. I knew one of these days you'd be home to see it happen. :)
